Bedtime For Madame Woe

Description

I really annoys me when people dismiss all the monsters and villains from Power Rangers / Super Sentai for being silly looking; some of these characters are quite beautifully designed, both in comparison to more traditional Japanese kaiju like Godzilla, or in their own unique Super Sentai / Power Ranger right.

But more to the point, there's lots of humanoid babes in there as well!

Fellow DA member Nayzor agrees, and thanks to him and his bizarre fetish for sleeping bikini girls (there's got to be a psychological term for that), I'm doing my first real paid commission - hoo-ray!

Well, not having a PayPal account, it's more of a trade-exchange deal; he orders movies off web-sites, and I draw stuff in return. And we're both dead set to do a whole series of the bad-girls of Super Sentai AND Power Rangers, regardless of the bizarre gender changes between translations, or how significant OR insignificant the lady in question was. If they're evil and female, and can wear a bikini with minimal redesigning, they're in.

Now this all came about shortly after I uploaded the semi-infamous Octoplant Pinup...

...And although I'm no where near completion on the first season / "Zyuranger" grouping, I at least wanted to share Madame Woe with you all here.

Yes, she's no where near as lovely as actress Ami Kawai as the scorpion warrior Lami / Scorpina, but Madame Woe / Dora Reiger was still interesting looking do to her Chinese theme spirit motif, and vast sorceress-like elemental powers. I'm not going to go too much into detail about Woe, as I plan to feature her in a Kaiju Portarit (yes, she did go giant size once, beyond the television appearances), but I thought this section of the larger picture worked as it's own stand-alone illustration, and preview of the overall project.

Plus, I had a lot of fun making Madame Woe more feminine and attractive then the original, larger monster suit, which is also still faithful to the source design. And yes, I had to throw in a reference to Billy ("Mighty Morphin Power Rangers") and Dan (of "Zyuranger"); both versions of the Blue Triceratops Ranger.

OK, looking at this, one realizes Woe/Reiger needs to put some mitts on her hands when sleeping, otherwise she'll cut herself when she rolls over. Laura Kinney is looking at this right now and thinking, "Man, glad I don't have this problem."
