UPDATE: I've revised the character list below, with notes on who's in, and who's expendable, based on your helpful feedback. Again, the Japanese monsters are giving me A LOT of trouble, because there's too many memorable character to both choose from, and to equally ignore.
While I've decided to keep characters like The Kraken from "Clash of the Titans" and Talos from "Jason and the Argonauts", based on the logic that they're well known American giants, even if their based on Greek mythology. And it's a similar situation with a lot of Japanese movie monsters, whose in-story origins have them coming from everywhere BUT Japan itself, such as Space Monsters (obviously), and Kaiju who hail from tropical islands beyond Japan's own seas.

Thanks to my dear friend I WILL be attending Anime Expo 2013 (www.anime-expo.org/) this coming July, as we're both be doing the artist ally there.
Of course, I plan to do something significant (to sell) for the occasion, and that will be a full colored poster print featuring Japanese kaiju (giant monsters), facing off against their American counterparts.
I've already done some test sketches for this poster concept, which is very much inspired by the 'two-armies-facing-off' covers of the Bronze-area of Marvel Comics. But I wanted to get your feedback on my planned roster of characters for this concept. Especially since I ran into two very different problems related with both sides.
With the Japanese Kaiju, there's too many notable and unique characters to choose from, let alone ones to discard in favor for others. While on the American Giant Monster end, there sadly isn't enough unique characters to begin with, unless I start going into really obscure territory.
The difference between these two slants on the same sub-genre can be attributed to any number of reasons, which I plan to follow up on with an extensive article featuring some theories as to why.
But for now, I'd like to share the initial character rosters, and get some feedback, questions, rants, and recommendations for this future project of mine.

The Japanese Kaiju Roster
Again, Japan has too many unique and interesting monsters, all of whom, regardless if they're obscure or famous, tend to have their fans. And as such, you might notice some notable characters I plan to leave out, in favor for others. Especially since I don't want to repeat monster and character motifs on both sides of this face-off, so characters like The Deadly Mantis and Kamacuras won't be present on either side. And while I'll probably have someone like Kumonga here, I won't be doing any other giant arachnids on the American side.
Godzilla
Minya / Minilla
Mantango / Mushroom People (expendable)
Anguiras
Rodan
Mothra
Gamera
Hedorah
Mechagodzilla (or Kiryu)
Guilala
Daimajin
Red King
King Ghidorah
Gigan
Ultraman (expendable IF necessary)
Gomora
Gappa
Baltan
Gezora
Sanda the Brown Gargantua (giving googly eye towards the Ginormica)
Gaira the Green Gargantua (confused at his brother's actions above)
Titanosaurus
Gyaos
Frankenstein (Toho's version, pointing confusingly at the 1998 American Godzilla)
Baragon
Kumonga
Destroyah
Space Godzilla (expendable IF necessary)
Biollante)
Megaguirus or Battra (one or the other, as both characters repeat each other's motifs)
Viras (expendable)
Legion (expendable IF necessary)
Iris (expendable IF necessary)
Jet Jaguar (expendable)
Eva Unit 001 (it is Anime Expo afterall, but expendable if need be)

The American Kaiju Roster
Again, I had some slim pickings here without going into too extreme obscurity, or not relying too heavily on generic monster types (i.e. enlarged animals). Not to mention well known and even beloved giant monsters that despite their fame, ARE NOT American creations. Such notable non-eligible monsters here included Gorgo, Reptilicus, The Giant Behemoth, The Loch Ness Monster (even though most films based on her ARE American productions) and multiple others.
King Kong
Son of Kong / Kiko (facing off against Minya)
Giant Ant from "THEM!"
Rhedosaurus from "The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms
The Giant Claw
Nancy Flower Archer / The Fifty-Foot Woman
Sharktopus (the only well-known Syfy Original monster, but equally expendable)
Kronos
The Blob
The Ymir from "20 Million Miles To Earth"
The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man
Clover from "Cloverfield"
The Iron Giant
Cyclops from "The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad"
The Statue of Liberty (girl's gone kaiju so many times, that she counts, however expendable)
The Rat-Bat-Spider-Crab, from "The Angry Red Planet"
Audrey II, from The Little Shop of Horrors
Klownzilla, from "Killer Klowns from Outer Space"
The Amazing Colossal Man / Glenn Manning
Moby Dick (yes, I'm serious, however expendable)
Cthuhlu
The Black Scorpion
American Godzilla / Zilla (pointing confusingly at Toho's Frankenstein)
The Giant Gila Monster
The Lepus, from "Night of the Lepus"
Ginormica / Susan Murphy from "Monsters vs Aliens"
The Forest Elemental from "Hellboy 2" (keeping him )
Graboid, from the "Tremors" franchise
The Kraken from "Clash of the Titans"
Talos from "Jason and the Argonauts"
Gypsy Danger from "Pacific Rim"
Zarkorr the Invader
Kraa the Sea Monster
Fin Fang Foom (highly expendable)
Devil Dinosaur (highly expendable)
Metlar, Tendril and Decompose from "The Inhumanoids" (expendable if necessary)
Locusts, from "Beginning of the End" (expendable if necessary)
Megas, from "Megas XLR (expendable)
"Q, the Winged Serpent"
"It Came From Beneath the Sea" (expendable)

Giant Monster Fiction from 1967
Maybe you guys can help me: can you think of any giant monster / kaiju fiction from 1967 that I may have missed?
