Well, it may be two weeks well after the fact, but I had a pretty decent time at WonderCon 2013 Anaheim
. And actually did quite a bit of on-the-spot commission work; nothing too elaborate, mostly sketches and some rushed inks. But that couldn't be helped, as most of my costumers had only one-day passes for the convention.
What was surprising was the large number of children and young teens (and their parents) who came to me and my buddy Hawanja's
) table as said customers. Almost as if they knew I was a friendly mythical troll in man-form, as opposed to your somewhat typical, negative human artist who wouldn't tolerate their various requests.
Not that I am a true troll of Scandinavian descent...yes, for I'm completely one-hundred percent human...*sweets nervously while his secret troll eyes scans around the room in turn*.
When people came to me for commissions, and didn't know what they wanted, I gave the costumers a suggestive choice between 'Monster? Or Babe?'.
Guess what all the teenage boys' constant answer to that was?
Hence the Demoness sketch shown above, though I really don't have much else to comment upon here. Especially since I draw attractive, 'top-heavy' demon ladies almost all the time, and I really have to start differentiating between their various designs in the future.
But the customer was happy, and that's all that mattered in the end.Other WonderCon 2013 Pictures:
